Invitation-only test
Private Beta Terms
Effective 28 August 2026
These terms are for a small, free test of Wilco. Wilco is experimental, changes quickly, and may not continue after the private beta.
Contact
Wilco is a project by Nicholas Hoff. Questions about these terms can be sent to nick@nicholashoff.com.
Joining the beta
By accepting these terms, you agree to follow them while using the beta. The beta is available only to people aged 18 or older who were personally invited to take part. Your account is for you, cannot be transferred, and must not be shared.
You may use Wilco on a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable basis to evaluate the private beta. The beta is free. An invitation or account does not promise access for any particular period or promise a future release.
What Wilco can do
Wilco connects its web and Desktop interfaces to Wilco Core on your machine. Depending on what you ask it to do, Wilco can read workspace and Git state, read files and diffs, start and control terminals, send commands, operate Codex, send information to the Wilco Assistant, and interact with websites opened in Desktop.
Some features use AI models and visual grounding. Their output can be wrong, incomplete, misleading, or based on an incorrect interpretation of the screen. A generated command or browser action can modify files, disclose information, communicate with another service, or cause other unwanted results.
Use it with supervision
- Review important commands, changes, messages, and results.
- Keep suitable backups and use version control.
- Do not rely on Wilco for medical, legal, or financial advice.
- Do not use it for safety-critical systems or unsupervised production work where a mistake could cause significant harm.
- Use separate test accounts or environments when trying browser-control or other consequential actions.
Wilco gives its Assistant instructions to ask before certain consequential browser actions, but those instructions are handled by a model. They can fail and are not a technical safety guarantee. You remain responsible for deciding where and how to use the beta.
Your content
You keep ownership of your files, prompts, messages, and other content. You give Wilco permission to process and transmit that content only as needed to provide the feature you request, operate and secure the beta, and comply with the law. The Privacy Notice explains the current data flows and retention.
Only use content and accounts you are allowed to use. Do not expose another person's personal data, confidential information, production secrets, or credentials without permission and an appropriate reason.
Acceptable use
Do not use Wilco to:
- break the law or violate another person's rights;
- access systems, accounts, or data without authorization;
- distribute malware or deliberately damage or disrupt systems;
- bypass security, safety, access, or usage restrictions;
- harass, deceive, impersonate, or harm another person; or
- probe or overload Wilco's hosted services outside normal beta testing.
Responsible testing and good-faith bug reports are welcome. Email security or privacy concerns rather than testing them against other users or production data.
Third-party services
Wilco works with services such as Clerk, Vercel, AWS, OpenAI, Codex, and websites you choose to open. Their own terms and privacy rules also apply. Wilco does not control those services and cannot promise that they will remain available or behave as expected. You are responsible for complying with the terms of accounts and websites you use through Wilco.
Feedback
If you send feedback, you allow Wilco to use it to evaluate and improve the project without payment or an obligation to adopt it. This permission does not transfer ownership of your underlying code or other content, and Wilco will not identify you publicly as the source without permission.
Changes, availability, and ending access
Features may be added, removed, limited, or changed during the beta. Wilco may suspend access to protect users or systems, respond to misuse, or stop the test. You may stop using Wilco at any time and may ask for account deletion by emailing nick@nicholashoff.com.
The private beta may end, continue into another beta, or become a regular product. Its end does not automatically delete accounts or data. Retention and deletion are described in the Privacy Notice.
Material changes to these terms will have a new effective date and may be presented for acceptance before continued use.
No service promise
Wilco is provided free for testing, as available. There is no promise that it will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, suitable for a particular purpose, or preserved without loss. This does not affect warranties or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Responsibility if something goes wrong
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility where the law does not allow it, including responsibility for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health.
Where the law allows a limitation, responsibility for ordinary negligence is limited to breaches of essential obligations and to loss that was reasonably foreseeable for a free experimental service of this kind. Mandatory consumer rights remain unchanged.
Applicable law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, this choice does not remove mandatory protections you have under the law of your usual country of residence or prevent you from using courts available to you under applicable law.
